Working From Home - A Single Mom’s Tale

Christy Barber talks about her home-based businesses USANA & About Time Internet Marketing, LLC and why working from home is so worth it in her blog.

Tell us about yourself.
I am a single mother who recently turned her world upside down by quitting the role of employee and started two home based businesses and couldn’t be happier. I depend on myself and the work I do for my own success. I have two jobs and I can finally say they are the right two jobs. That makes all the difference.

Are you the only author/contributor?
Yes, I am the only author to this blog. From time to time I will feature great blogs I see in other places or place a press release here that I have written but the rest of it comes from my own heart and passion.

How did you get started?
I learned that blogging was great source of marketing for a business. I found blogger and the rest is history. I have a lot of stories to tell and I have a lot to learn from the rest of you. This is a stop for me at least two to three times a day.

Why do you blog?
As I mentioned above, I have a lot of stories to tell and I am lucky enough to meet so many interesting people that need their stories told as well. I want my blog to be a forum for that. To share stories of interesting people that I meet and to keep you informed of the trials and tribulations of a woman making it on her own in the independent work force.

What is the source of your content?
Life experience mostly. I share what I am thinking about which is really who I am in my day to day life as well. I also thieve a spot or two always giving due credit to that author. Other business people that I am lucky enough to meet also share the limelight here.

How frequently do your write/post?
I try to write at a minimum of 3 times a week. If I am inspired and have a lot going on in my world I can be known to write almost every day. I enjoy it when I don’t have to think about what to write. I think it’s more interesting to read when it comes from a deeper place.

Does your blog generate revenue?
Hmmm…good question. Not yet. At least I haven’t seen a check from it yet. I guess I should check my affiliate programs.

Who visits your blog?
Another good question. I think mostly people like me who are slightly workaholics, business people, marketers, home based business people seem to come around since I am an independent USANA consultant. But that is the one thing I have found with blogging. It seems we all attract people who are just like us, Which I think is great because we have a lot to learn from each other. But wouldn’t it be great if we could generate interest from those who would help us grow our business? I link my blog to my website and where I advertise. I think that helps. And my clients know that I give them kudos here as well. I hope that helps add to the excitement.

Would you like to add anything else?
I am so grateful to all of my readers and those I read. I learn so much from you all and I hope that you all take something away from my site that you didn’t know before or saw something that gave you food for thought or a smile. Come back often. You never know what you might find….=)

Very interesting work. I am thinking about doing something from home too - I am expecting soon.

How much time do you spend everyday creating posts/maintaining your blog/sites?

    Thanks.

    Hi Sally,

I spend maybe an hour a day on my blogs and information updates. I spend around two hours a day with USANA and the rest of my time I divide up with various marketing clients. Where you are expecting, I think USANA would be a perfect home based business for you that you could set your hours. Plus, you have a support team to help you. Not too many home based businesses offer that. Call me Sally, 541.786.1613 and we’ll talk more about your options. Thanks for commenting.

    Christy
