Popdirt - Keeping Music Fans Updated

Jeff shares his passion for music by providing regular news and updates via PopDirt.com Here is what he had to say in our Enterview:

Tell us about yourself.
I live in the Northwest and have always had an interest in computers and music, so running music web sites was a great combo.

What is your blog about?
Basically I try to do with pop music what Drudge does with politics, albeit a much smaller audience

Are you the only author/contributor?
Yeah, though I get plenty of news submissions - unfortunately most of them are spam.

How did you get started?
Summer 2001 - I figured that it would be a good part time opportunity. But being in the avionics business, a few months later we all know what happened, and a few months later, it became a full time opportunity.

Why do you blog?
I think it fills a void. There’s a lot of generic gossip blogs, but none have a narrow focus on the pop genre of music that I provide.

What is the source of your content?

Everything, though seeking out video is my preferred focus.

How frequently do your write/post?
Dozens of brief updates a day.

Does your blog generate revenue?
Yeah, it does alright, although I’d equate myself just above the “starving artist” level.

Who visits your blog?

People who read gossip, like pop music, ‘American Idol’ fans, and webmasters of artist fan sites who frequently copy/paste my news updates

Would you like to add anything else?
Predictably, please visit http://popdirt.com often!
